DeviantART is NOT PhotobucketIf you agree with this article, please fave it and spread the word!
Greetings, fellow deviants. Today, I would like to clear up a misunderstanding that seems to be very frequent among new and not-so-new members alike:
DeviantART is NOT an "image hosting website" (like Photobucket, Flickr, Imageshack, etc.) DeviantART is a website where artists can showcase their own work -- pictures, photographs or writings that were made by themselves, from scratch. Anything else has no place here on dA.
Here are a few examples of what is considered unacceptable under dA's policy:

A Toast to the Art ThievesPlease :+fav: this news article, and help proclaim throughout the deviantArt community that Art Thieves are not welcome here! Gather round, one and all, and hear these words. Drop your butts and lift your glasses, this one's a doozy.
Foreward:
Last month, the :devcolor-me-club: held a coloring contest. For the first time in the club's history, we got a discouraging number of entries that were proven to be theft. People would take an existing contest entry, throw some hue/saturation wizardry on it, smear some dodge and burn, drop a spontaneous texture overlay on it, and attempt to call it their own thinking that the :devcolor-me-club: is

Hand Drawn Adopts VS. Animal-MakersAdoptables (Hand Drawn) VS. Animal-Game Makers
I've seen a lot of people become very lazy since they discovered these animal makers, like gryphons, kittens, puppies etc. They "Make designs" to resell on DeviantART. However; what people don't seem to realize others can remake that design without buying it so what is the point of using a kitten or puppy maker when someone else would easily make a remake of it without a care?
If you're going to make adoptables to sell, pick up your tablet pen, mouse whatever it is you use and start drawing, don't get lazy and use a maker to create these.
Original designs are made when you draw them by hand, i

Project Educate Interview With ElvenCrystalineAs a part of :devprojecteducate:, I have conducted a short series of interviews. I hope that these are informative and that they give some inside perspective into the doll world.
The first to have an interview with me is :develvencrystaline:

2. When did you first discover dolling and how long have you been dolling for?
I first discovered dolling way back in late 2002 when I found Xandorra. I didn't get too involved in it since I wa

Guide to the deviantART Related Gallery! The deviantART Related Gallery
"Submissions that are deviantART related, including deviantIDs, deviantART tutorials, dA software skins, deviations about deviantART people, and more."
The deviantART Related gallery is broad and confusing when approached with unfamiliar eyes, and so we have decided to make a quick and easy breakdown of the gallery--with examples! Each section opens with words in italics; these are the official deviantART definitions of the gallery sections and are the first thing you must consider when submitting to the gallery. The rest of the guide has been written by the dA related GMs, to try and help clarify things some.

Digital Dolls Information CatalogueWelcome to the Digital Dolls Information Catalog
I am creating this news article so that all relevant Digital Dolls information on dA (with the occasional useful off-site link) can be stored in one place. I will update this continually throughout the rest of my term, and hopefully the next GM will see fit to do the same =) If you want anything added to this, please just comment and let me know =3
